Project Overview:
The University Programme title Workspace Futures 2030, looks to promote new ways of working and encourage staff to work collaboratively within shared environments with the key aim to utilise workspace more efficiently. The Isabella Elder Building was the first reconfiguration and refurbishment project within the Workspace Futures programme.
The Isabella Elder Building is currently home to the Estates team, Research Support Office and Legal & Governance department as well as the Safety & Environmental Protection Service.
The refurbishment designs, developed in consultation with colleagues during the Workspace Futures 2030 Diagnose & Engage stages, deliver a refreshed workspace, with improved internet connectivity, increased bookable space, and a blend of collaborative and quiet workspaces.
The main aim of the Isbaella Elder project was to merge the spaces together, to create one shared environment with ad-hoc and bookable spaces designed to support different activities and provide more suitable space.
Key Aims of the project:
- Better utilisation of all spaces within Level 2 Isabella Elder
- Dedicated ‘collaborative’ workspace
- Dedicated ‘focused’ workspace
- Additional bookable spaces for meetings/hybrid calls
- Enhanced social space
Additional enhancements as part of the refurbishment:
- Refresh of areas (primarily shared offices and North)
- New or enhanced AV provision
- Connectivity enhancement (Wifi)
- Implementation of additional comms cabinet
- Refurbishment of 2 tea points/kitchens (236 & 253)
- Lighting enhancement within the North Wing (241, 242, 241A).
